Terms of service
DRAFT — NOT LEGAL ADVICE. This is a working draft for the tracebin beta, written by the product team, not by a lawyer. It has not been reviewed by counsel and should not be relied on as a legal document. It exists so that beta users know the intended ground rules.
Last updated: 2026-07-21
1. What tracebin is
tracebin is a support artifact collection service. Account holders ("you") create bins describing files and command output to collect, and send collection links to the people they are supporting ("customers"). The customer runs a script that collects the specified items, shows them for approval, and uploads approved files to storage, where they appear organized in your console.
2. Accounts
You need an account (email and password) to create bins. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Customers running collection links do not need accounts and are not bound by account terms; the script's consent prompts govern their interaction.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to:
- collect files only from machines whose owners or operators have authorized the collection — the consent prompts in the script are part of the product and must not be circumvented, patched out, or misrepresented;
- use collected files only for the support purpose they were provided for;
- not use tracebin to collect, store, or distribute material that is unlawful, or that you have no right to possess;
- not attempt to access other users' data, probe or overload the service, or resell it without our agreement.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Your data
Files collected through tracebin remain yours (or your customer's, as between the two of you — tracebin takes no position on that relationship). We claim no ownership of collected artifacts. See the privacy draft for what we store and how.
If your team connects its own storage bucket, artifacts for team bins are stored in that bucket under your provider agreement, not ours.
5. Beta service — no warranty
tracebin is beta software provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted service, data durability, or that any given collection will succeed. Do not use the beta as the only copy of anything important.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the beta service is limited to the amount you paid us for it — which, during the free beta, is zero.
6. Service changes and termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue the beta, or any feature of it, at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice before discontinuing the service entirely, and to provide a window for exporting your data. You can stop using tracebin at any time; contact us to delete your account and data.
7. Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as the beta evolves and note the date above. Material changes will be announced to account holders by email.
